Goal — work & focus

The only slot you will not take from anything else.

The problem with a daily routine is never the device: it is the slot. This goal gathers the formats that sit in front of you while you work, or on your head through a meeting you are only listening to. The session adds nothing to the day.

0 min of added time: the session runs while you work
7 spectra on the DESK, from 590 nm to 940 nm
15–50 cm the distance of a panel set behind the screen

In front of the screen

Three questions you ask at your desk.

The problem with a daily routine is almost never the device: it is the slot. This goal gathers the formats that do not ask for one — a panel set to the side while you work, a cap through a meeting you are only listening to. The session adds nothing to the day; that is the whole point.

For anyone working seated for hours at a stretch, with no free slot to give to one more ritual.

Before installing anything

Three questions, three short answers

Can I really work during the session?

Yes — that is the whole point of this goal. One rule only: do not stare into the LEDs. The light is not dangerous at home irradiances, but it is dazzling in visible red and invisible in the near-infrared, so the blink reflex does not protect you. The panel sits to the side or behind the screen, not in your line of sight.

Does it replace a break?

No, and that is not stylistic caution. Standing up, walking, and looking into the distance meet needs that light does not cover. A session that gives you a reason to stay seated twenty minutes longer is working against you.

Is it a seasonal light-therapy lamp?

No. Daylight lamps target the circadian rhythm with a different spectrum and a different intensity. Neither the same device nor the same use, and one does not stand in for the other.

The routine

In order, with nothing left to guess

The four session parameters — when, how long, at what distance, how often — come from our How it works page. They are not specific to this goal: it is the moment that changes.

Place the device out of your line of sight

To the side or behind the screen, never facing you. The light is not dangerous at home irradiances, but it is dazzling.

Keep the stated distance

Between 15 and 50 cm depending on the device's irradiance. A panel pushed to the back of the desk no longer delivers much.

The same slot every day

Early morning, or right after lunch. A moment you have to decide on each day is a moment you end up skipping.

Ten to twenty minutes, then forget it

The timer does the work. The session must ask for no attention, otherwise it takes some.

The mistakes that cost the most

  • Facing the panel toward you to get more out of it. It is dazzling, and the blink reflex does not protect against near-infrared, which is invisible.
  • Mistaking the device for a seasonal light-therapy lamp. Daylight lamps work on a different spectrum and a different intensity.
  • Dropping your breaks because the session is running. Standing up, walking, and looking into the distance meet needs light does not cover.
  • Moving the device every day. A device you have to set up again is a device you stop switching on after three weeks.

Framing

What this goal does not say

A goal is not a medical indication. It names an area of the body and a moment in the week; it points to no condition and implies none. What follows is not stylistic caution: it is the exact boundary of what this page may state.

This is not a seasonal light-therapy lamp

Daylight lamps target the circadian rhythm with a different spectrum and a different intensity. Neither the same device nor the same use.

It treats neither fatigue nor a sleep disorder

Persistent fatigue goes to a doctor. This is a wellness product, without medical-device CE marking.

It does not replace a break

Nor a correct screen height, nor a decent chair, nor standing up.

It promises no gain in concentration

We know of no trial measuring that on a device like ours, and we do not invent one.
