Protocol — after training

The window that matters closes within the hour.

The post-training session goes in the hour after your workout, on the areas you just loaded. It is the easiest protocol to keep, because it lands in a moment when you are already sitting down, already undressed, already recovering.

For anyone stacking sessions who wants a short ritual between training and the shower.

The session

Four numbers, nothing left to guess

These values come from our How it works page. They are not specific to this protocol: they hold for all of them, and it is the moment that changes.

When

Within the hour after training

Duration

10 to 20 minutes per area

Distance

15 to 50 cm for a panel, in contact for a knee sleeve or boot

Frequency

3 to 5 sessions a week, sustained over weeks

How to run it

The session, in order

Do not postpone

The further the session drifts from the effort, the less it matches the protocols. Within the hour is the simple rule.

Target what worked

Legs after a ride, the knee after a match, the feet after a long run. One area at a time.

Ten to twenty minutes

Twenty for a large area, ten for a joint. The timer does the work.

Keep the same area

Three to five times a week on one area beats seven areas once each.

The spectrum involved

What these wavelengths do, and where

660 nm

Red — dermis

The most studied red wavelength in the field. Present on the Antared knee sleeve alongside 850 nm.

810 nm

Near-infrared — deep

Invisible to the eye: an 810 nm LED can be on without looking like it. This is the spectrum most used in deep-tissue research.

850 nm

Near-infrared

The most widespread near-infrared across the range. It is the one producing the mild warmth at close range.

The mistakes that cost the most

  • Doing five areas in one session. Total duration explodes and consistency collapses by the following week.
  • Confusing warmth with dose. Near-infrared warms slightly at close range; the sensation measures nothing.
  • Waiting until tomorrow. That is a different protocol.
  • Stopping after ten days. The reference studies measure over weeks.

Framing

What this session does not do

Antared devices are wellness products, without medical-device CE marking. What follows is not stylistic caution: it is the exact boundary of what a usage protocol may state.

It does not heal an injury

Pain lasting beyond a few days, or limiting a movement, goes to a health professional.

It replaces neither stretching nor rest

Those are separate levers, and the session does not make them optional.

It guarantees no acceleration

What the published work describes are trends measured in a lab, not an individual promise.

It does not offset an excessive load

If training exceeds what the body absorbs, the load is what needs revisiting.

After training is when red and near-infrared light are most commonly used — while muscles and joints are still warm from the session.

Suggested setup

  • Knee or joint focus: Antared Knee, 660nm + 850nm, worn during your cool-down
  • Feet, heels, ankles: Antared Foot, same wavelengths, worn while you rest
  • Full body: Antared Sauna Dome or PANO ULTRA, 20–30 minutes

Wraparound devices like Knee and Foot are hands-free by design — wear them while you stretch, shower, or simply sit down.
