Our Story

Started with a simple frustration.

Antared started with a simple frustration: most red and near-infrared light therapy devices on the market either hide their specifications behind vague marketing language, or bury real engineering under an inflated price tag. We set out to build a range that does neither — devices with disclosed wavelengths and LED counts, built for the routines people actually keep, at a price that reflects the hardware rather than the marketing budget behind it.

That's still what guides every device we add to the range: real specifications, a format people will actually use, and no claims we can't stand behind.

Antares, the red supergiant star in the constellation Scorpio.

Where the name comes from

Antares, the star behind the name

Antares is a red supergiant — one of the brightest stars visible to the naked eye, sitting in the constellation Scorpio. Ancient Greek astronomers named it « anti-Ares » — the rival of Mars — for the deep red hue that sets it apart from the rest of the night sky.

That colour is not just a matter of brightness: red stars are also the coolest ones. A supergiant like Antares radiates most of its energy toward the red and near-infrared end of the spectrum, rather than the blue of hotter stars — the same red and near-infrared wavelengths our devices use.

That same red is what we borrowed for the brand name: a colour that reads from a distance, long associated with intensity rather than softness, and one that literally describes the light at the core of every device. Antares lent its name and its colour; Antared turned it into a device.

Harry

Tech and health enthusiast

Tuan has spent years testing and refining light therapy protocols in the field with his athletes; Harry set out to bring the same engineering rigour he'd seen in tech to the health space. Antared grew out of that meeting of minds.
